Fly Fishing Report, 9/24/09

Top my High Tie tied with craft fur, and my crab fly.

My high tie in pink craft fur, note the sections of  fur tied in small bunches on top of the hook shank.

Hi everybody, we fished the narrow river last night and the water just above Sprague bridge was very warm! The water coming out of the estuary, (Chafee Wildlife Refuge) has been heated by the warm sun of the last two days. We did find fish up river where the water was much cooler, oh, about 10 to 15 degrees cooler, much better for holding bass and shad. We did in fact do very well, Hunter Seley came back for more and took some very nine shad and sidliners. Everett and Geno took some good fish as well.

With the cooler nights we had last week it was looking much better inside of the rivers, in respect to water temperatures. It will not be long now that the nights will cool things down. Again the best flies for me where my pink high tie and shrimp patterns.
