We fished once again the great waters of Montana, and Yellowstone National Park this past July and this trip turned out to be one of the best, as a matter of fact I would say it ranked in the top 5 or 6 trips in the 27 times that I have been!  The water levels had dropped just before we arrived and from that first day of the trip to the last  it was all great! We fished mill Creek, Deputy's Spring Creek, Soda Butte, and the Fabulous BigHorn River, all fished extremly well. The fish at all of these rivers where all very respectable with an average size being 14" to 15" and on The Bighorn this was another big fish year almost like it was back in the 80"s and 90"s. the fish on the Horn averaged a good 16" to 17". All of us took fish in the 19" to 20" class and many of them. Our hatches where BWO's, Black and Tan Caddis, some PMD's, and a lot of stillborn Black Caddis. The terrestrial fishing this year was extremely good with hoppers, wasp, and ants, some of our party took most of their fish on hoppers all week long and big fish at that.  Another great year out West.

Best always and tight lines Ed           www.edlombardoflyfish.com
