Fly Fishing Report 5/5/09

A nice early season sideliner

Hi everybody, we fished Ninigret  inside the park and then fished the breachway later into the night. At the park we had a nice mild overcast and very little rain and NO WIND! We fished several places from Grassy Point, and all the little coves as far as the first cove to the left of the new boat ramp. No fish, no worms, and we fished hard.

Later the Charlestown Breachway on an incoming tide showed the same results, no worms and very little fish. The three of us all had one hook-up apiece, just one all the time we fished. The tide was just great and all of the fishing conditions where just right except for no fish! All three of us where using shrimp patterns when we hooked up. We need warm sunny days to get these worms started. Just standing in the water at both spots felt as though things where going to start any minute. All of us where using intermediate lines not full floating lines. Something I’m going to use more this year during this worm hatch. I did very well last year with this I-Line, an Airflow 40+ clear WF Belly section, great line.  Don't misunderstand, I will still use my floating lines as well.
