Fishing Report, 9/22, & 9/23, 2008

Dr Sam Smart having another great day on The Wood River!

Tom Perry also having a great day on the Wood River!
We fished the Wood River last Tuesday and Wednesday and the water conditions where just perfect. Water temp. holding around 63, to 64 degrees and the water level ideal for wading. We had good numbers of rising fish most of the day and from what I could see they where rising to small midge pupa and very small cripples.
I was not going to start fishing size # 22's and # 24's at first, but instead we fished larger easier to see terrestrials in size's #14's and #12's. Again black & red ants, wasps, and beetle's in these sizes #14, #12, and #16's.
Remember that this time of the year the fish are looking for the warmer water which will allow them to through caution to the wind and take up holding lies which are feather away from the banks. This will take place later in the mornings and into the afternoons, oh, about 3 to 4pm. Don't just start wading fast and pushing a lot of water which will spook the fish, approach each and every fish with a stealth like movement.
Now with all of this rain from this passed weekend the local rivers won't be right again for a good 5 to 6 days!
