The Farmy halfway to the dam on the Riverton section

Hi everybody we fished the Farmington River Wednesday and the river above the Riverton Bridge to just below the dam had the most fishable water on the river. The water below the Riveton Bridge where the Still River meets the Farmy was still running high, 600 cfs. This amount of water entering into the Farmy was just too much water, the river for the most part  for the next three miles or so was not clear, mostly brown in color and not many fish rising at all. A bad day not only for rising fish but some fishers even with spinning gear where not doing very well.

The section above Riverton Bridge was perfect in flow and color, but very few rising fish as well. We didn't see many bugs, a few tan and winter caddis, size#18's & 16's, midges, size# 18's and smaller, very few sulfurs, and some BWO's. I did hear that the river is much better now that the rain has not been a factor for more than a week now.

Marla Blair tells that the Tricos have started and that is at 6:00AM to close to 11:00AM. All in all always a great time on the Farmy. I plan on going back soon.
