Fishing Report Narrow River & The Breachway, 9/23/07

Sunset on The Breachway

Gary and I fished the Narrow River and The Charlestown Breachway. We got to Narrow River at 5:00pm just as the river or tide was just starting to ebb. So we left without fishing it and went straight to The Breachway. The water was incoming at a very good rate, lots of bait, (peanut bunker) and I do mean lots. The schools of bunker where so copious that hooking it on cast was not uncommon, but what was very unusual is that we didn't see any fish rising to take the bait fish as it struggled in the incoming fast current. We stayed until 7:pm just as the tide started slowing down. We decided to leave and get something to eat; we stopped at our good friend Chris's Famous Pizza not far from the Breachway.

After eating we went to The Narrow River. We started at middle bridge while the tide was outgoing but not at a very fast rate. We had arrived at about 8:20pm and fished for a good fifty minutes, not one shad, striper, just two snapper blues. Again the bait was not as prolific as the breachway but more than enough to keep fish there.

The moon phase is good this week full, I'm hoping things will change!
