Fishing report 8/13/07
Hi Everybody:
Last night we fished Quonochontaug breachway. The bait, silversides where as thick as can be, again blankets of these copious forage where both on our near side and of course on the large flat straight across from the boat ramp. I was using my intermitate fly line with a two fly rig. My dropper a silverside imitation 2 1/2” in length made of craft fur white & gray in color. The hook size mustard 1. My lead fly a larger squid pattern, oh, some 6” in length made of pink craft fur, tied on a mustard 1o. One of the problems the weeds where very thick and one could not avoid hooking them on every cast. I like fishing an intermitate line so it will carry my larger very different looking squid just under the silversides in hopes that the fish will take it as an opportunistic meal. This started about one hour after the tide had turned to incoming, 7:00pm. We did not hook a fish in the short time we fished, as a matter of fact the only fish we seen taken, one striper by a spin fishermen. Those thunder storms came right over us and didn’t want the quit we tried to wait them out but it was after 9:00 pm and by that time the fish had stopped coming up anyway. We will try again tonight
